Spring Art Club

Please check out the new artwork on the pages on the right! Fresh off the press!

Also, here is just the beginning of some of the artwork made by Spring Art Club! This group proved to be very interested in comics  . . so we created these onomonopia paintings inspired by Roy Lichtenstein and super hero sculptures (coming soon!). You may also spy a couple expressive/experimental paintings in there.

January!

Happy New Year!

I hope everyone had an amazing winter break! Sorry I am a bit slow to get back to the blogging . . . . Over winter break Mr. Brinker and I went to Europe for the first time and saw some amazing art! (So I did not get a chance to update the blog over break.)

We went to the Bauhaus Museum in Berlin, Germany. It was AWESOME! Lots of great design! And lots of chairs you can only look at, no sitting allowed.

On another note, here is the final artwork from the fall session of art club. Students created a collaborative mural on a large piece of butcher paper. I love seeing creative minds working so well together!!

Next art club (the winter session) will begin next week, on January 26th. Students should check the roster posted by the upstairs bathroom to check if they are in art club. We will meet in the old art room. Art club will meet every Thursday from 3:30-4:45, except for Feb. 9th (fifth grade music performance).

Jay Ryan's Printing Workshop

Hey all! I am posting this video on here because I need a place to show it to the fifth graders.

But feel free to enjoy at home too!

It's a video from a printmaking workshop I attended at the Illinois Art Ed Association convention in November. Jay Ryan is an awesome Chicago artist who makes silk screened posters for bands. Rock on!

Cultural Night Banner

On November 21st students and their families came to Cultural Night at Georgetown! It was truly a magical night. (So magical my Mom came and loved it!)

There were amazing dancers and tables set up with different cultural artifacts. I was so impressed with the wide variety of cultures represented at our school. We almost cover the globe! I feel so lucky to be a part!

Here is the banner people made at the event. It really shows the love for our school. The PTA really is to be credited for this, and the whole night, I was just facilitating the banner activity :)

(Pardon some of the upside down writing, people were sitting at both sides of the lunch table to decorate.)
